Newry Walk, Knowle West, Bristol

Bristol Together created 6 new homes for affordable rented accommodation for Southwest Solon Housing Association.

Bristol Together purchased the site of the disused Knowle West Baptist Church on Newry Walk, Bristol in 2018 from West of England Baptist Association (WEBA) in an off-market deal.

WEBA were happy to offer the site to Bristol Together to benefit both the local area with additional housing and also for the social impact provided with ex-offender employees.   Knowle West is a semi-deprived area of the city with a housing shortage.

Following demolition and clearance of the site, Bristol Together constructed 6 three-bedroom homes.  Work on the project site started in late 2018 and was completed in November 2019.   The entire scheme was sold off plan to Solon Housing association for affordable rent homes.

The project employed 14 recently released prisoners during its 12-month build phase, during which time they were trained in groundworks, brick-laying, carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting and landscaping.
